Local Produce
At Inver Cottage, we endeavour to bring you the best in local produce from loch, river and glen, sourcing as much of our food as possible from local suppliers. The rich biodiversity surrounding Inver Cottage and the Old Castle from the foreshore of Loch Fyne to the native deciduous woodlands and nearby hills is vitally important. We strive to maintain this rich landscape whilst securing a thriving community for future generations.

Private Functions and Weddings
Inver Cottage provides the perfect backdrop for a private function of any size. The Boathouse attached to the restaurant is perfect as a business meeting room or for private dining for up to 20 people. We can accommodate up to 60 people in the restaurant or can arrange a marquee overlooking the Old Castle and Loch Fyne for bigger parties or weddings. Whatever the size of the event, we are happy to discuss and tailor the menu and facilities to match your needs. We can help you arrange accommodation in the area and can advise on local contacts for marquees, lighting, pipers, bands, florists and fireworks for the ultimate celebration.

If you can't have your function with us, Inver Cottage can come to you and provide its excellent catering services for events in a venue of your own choice.

Old Castle Lachlan
Inver Cottage was built by the seventh chief of Clan MacLachlan as a croft and ferryman's cottage.

Old Castle Lachlan, on the shores of Loch Fyne, has been home of Clan MacLachlan since they arrived in Scotland from Ireland over one thousand years ago and the MacLachlan family still occupies the same land today.

As Jacobite sympathisers, the clan suffered heavily at Culloden and later at the hands of the Campbells, when the Old Castle was besieged and attacked by English soldiers in 1746.

The Old Castle is now a listed ruin and there is an easy walk across the bay to see this unique and atmospheric fortress.

Coastal Walks
For those seeking activity to either work up an appetite or experience the stunning scenery, there is a coastal path over the river and across the bay to the Old Castle.

With its rich natural history and unspoilt shoreline, you may be lucky enough to catch a glimpse of a seal, an otter or a pod of dolphins out in the bay. The advanced walker can continue along the coast following a rough path to the site of an old township and ancient chapel.

Do bring suitable footwear and clothing to brave the unpredictable weather on the west coast of Scotland. Well behaved dogs are welcome, but must be kept on a lead, particularly during the lambing season.
